HLA is a voluntary bar association established in Miami in 1997, as a non-profit legal organization to protect and advocate for the legal rights of the Haitian community. For years, HLA worked to promote diversity in the legal profession and the welfare of the community. The organization has also provided pro-bono legal representation to Haitian immigrants in matters relating to immigration, family law, civil rights, criminal law, juvenile law and housing and represented clients in federal, state and immigration courts.
